"Hop" Hops Away With a Big Box Office Win

Easter-themed flick "Hop" starring James Marsden and the voice of Mr. Katy Perry Russell Brand overcame dismal reviews (24% rotten score at Rotten Tomatoes) and far exceeded studio expectations by scoring the biggest opening of the year to date raking in $38 million this weekend and landing solidly at #1. The Jake Gyllenhaal thriller "Source Code" was a very distant second managing only $15 million, just a smidgen ahead of low-budget horror flick "Insidious" starring Rose Byrne which earned $13.5 million.  Last weekend's #1 movie "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules" came in 4th with $10.2 million and the Bradley Cooper actioner  "Limitless" held strong in 5th place with another $9.4 million in its third weekend in theaters.
