Pia Toscano's Early Ouster From "Idol" Prompts Voting Re-Think
When beautiful big-voiced singer Pia Toscano was shockingly voted off of the Top 9 of "American Idol" last week, everyone other than the hyper-texting teeny-boppers in control of who stays on the show, were just plain disappointed. Everyone was left shaking their heads and wondering how this could happen... and isn't there any way we can combat the control of those teeny-boppers voting for the "cute guy" rather than the most talented performers? Is there any way we can stop the string of blase winners on the show? Well it turns out everyone includes Nigel Lythgoe, the show's returning uber-producer responsible for this season's revitalization and resurgence. Nigel told the yahoo.com blog Reality Rocks over the weekend that:
"Maybe if we change the rules next season, maybe do the same thing we do on 'So You Think You Can Dance' so that America votes for the bottom three, and then the judges decide who goes home. I think that will be thought about."
Nigel also explained that Pia wasn't in fact the show's front-runner:
"I know the [voting] results, so I know she was never a frontrunner. The fact of the matter is, it appears that Pia didn't connect with the audience the way we maybe think she did."
Well... maybe not those hyper-texting teeny-boppers, but she sure has connected with the rest of us and the people who make records, because as Elepharts reported yesterday Pia has already signed on with Interscope -- and the even better news? They are pulling out all the stops to get a Pia CD on the market ASAP!
