R.I.P. Elizabeth Taylor: Screen Legend Dies at 79

Elepharts has just learned that legendary screen goddess Elizabeth Taylor died this morning Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at age 79. She passed away from congestive heart failure while surrounded by family members at Cedar-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, where she had been hospitalized for about six weeks. The 2-time Oscar winning actress for “Butterfield 8” and “Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” starred in a total of 50 films beginning with "National Velvet" when she was 12 years old, but perhaps is best known for her stormy off-screen life that included 8 marriages, most notably to Richard Burton - who she married twice. In later years people came to know her for her AIDS charity work and her friendship with troubled "king of pop" Michael Jackson, but staffers here will always think of her as the gorgeous, steamy Maggie Pollitt on that bed in her white slip in the great movie "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof".  RIP Elizabeth.
