Join A REAL Cannonball Run

No word yet on whether we can expect to see Burt Reynolds, Dean Martin, Roger Moore, Dom DeLuise or Farrah Fawcett in the race - which would be a really neat trick since several of them are now sadly deceased - but there's going to be a real Cannonball Run! Yes, an all-new Australian road rally "The Cannonball Run Rat Race" has been announced to begin February 2012 in Brisbane with 60 cars traveling over 3000 kilometers picking-up clues along the way, eventually leading one lucky team to a locker, which will contain a large sum of cash.

The rally will feature sixty teams of two/three people competing against one another to crack the code given out at each morning's check point and collect the five numeric codes which will then match up to a postal code. The sixth clue will release the actual address of the hidden locker containing the cash prize.

"The Cannonball Run Rat Race is an exciting yet simple idea", says Cannonball World Events founder Tim Porter. "'The Cannonball Run' meets 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' head on in a madcap race to win a briefcase crammed with cash hidden in a secret location. No engraved cups to win, no big speeches, no pat on the back...just good old dollars. A lot of dollars!"

Each night of the rally the participants attend infamous Cannonball parties. At the end of each leg of the rally, these 'Rat Race Cash Seekers' will be treated to delectable food, luxurious accommodations and legendary Cannonball parties. The eventful weeklong rally will conclude with a final night party hosted at a luxury hotel.

Cannonball World Events recently announced that The Cannonball Run Rat Race Australia will be filmed for broadcast on a major network and for subsequent distribution to networks around the world.

"A film crew will be following the entire event, filming the action, rally participants and behind the scenes at the legendary parties" says Porter.

Entries are strictly limited to 60 cars for the 2012 event. For more information on the Rat Race or how to become a participant, go to the Cannonball World Events website, www.cannonballworld.com.

Hmmm... Elepharts is definitely going to have to consider entering a team in this - it sounds like a heck of a good time! And now we're shutting down the office for the night and gathering in the boardroom to watch the classic 1981 movie "The Cannonball Run"... okay maybe it isn't a classic exactly but it's pretty funny. That Burt Reynolds is just so incorrigible :)
