Barbara Hershey Beautiful At The BAFTA's

When the nominations were announced, not only did Barbara Hershey commission designer Ali Rahimi for her BAFTA Ensemble, weeks prior she also insisted that Rahimi create her gown for the SAG Awards, in Los Angeles. At that event, Hershey wore a Japanese inspired print, bias-cut Italian silk charmeuse gown. The poppies were hand-painted with gold leaf.

At today's BAFTA ceremony, the acclaimed actress Hershey, who is nominated for her supporting role in "The Black Swan," pays homage to the tailoring skills that London is known for worldwide. Her silk peau de soie (soft silk fabric of satin weave) jacket enfolds her figure beautifully, while her coordinating skirt is a sequined fabric adorned with paillettes.

"Being represented in London, at such an important event means the world to me," Rahimi explains. "After spending ten years attending boarding school in England, Britain will always hold a special place in my heart." When asked about the upcoming royal wedding, Rahimi admits that he has a number of designs in mind for the future Princess Catherine. However, he respects the tradition of using an English designer for such an occasion. "I was here for the nuptials of Prince Charles and Princess Diana," he adds. "Their wedding, and her stunning gown, left an impression on me as a designer."

In his 20 years designing in Los Angeles, Rahimi has dressed A-List celebrities such as Anjelica Huston, Queen Latifah and Jane Lynch. In addition to his custom-designed gowns, he creates striking accessories for men and women, tuxedos and other garments for men. Rahimi also creates more casual pieces, such as the iconic pink suit worn by Reese Witherspoon in "Legally Blonde 2."

Rahimi has drawn clients from around the world with his impeccable attention to detail and exquisite creations. He and his partner, John Barle, provide each client with attentive and personal service in the beautiful Mon Atelier salon, located in Los Angeles.
